Join the National Center on Early Childhood Health and Wellness (NCECHW) for this new webinar. It offers recommendations for this year’s influenza season, including why it’s important for everyone who works in Head Start and other child care programs to be vaccinated for flu. Learn strategies that can be used in child care settings to prevent or control the spread of influenza. New recommendations include that the nasal spray flu vaccine (live attenuated influenza vaccine, or LAIV4) not be used at all because of its poor effectiveness the past three years. Presenters are pediatricians with expertise in infectious diseases and the health and safety of children in child care. This webinar is a collaborative effort of NCECHW, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Topics for the webinar include:

  • Recommendations for this year’s influenza season
  • Why it’s important to aim for universal immunization of caregivers who work in Head Start and other early education and child settings
  • Strategies that can be used in child care settings to prevent or control the spread of influenza
