Leadership Structure – The leadership structure was revised to streamline communication between the 14,000+ members in SOPT, increase the number of leadership positions for trainees overall, and continue to recruit and increase member value for all members, especially medical students and fellowship trainees. Mentorship Program – Our mentorship program continues to thrive, but we can always add more mentees and mentors! Please find more information here.
SOPT Advocacy Campaign – We created our first national advocacy campaign in 2005 and have been building momentum ever since. Last year’s campaign, FACE Poverty, was immensely successful not only for the efforts of trainees but also because of the amazing support of Academy leaders outside the Section. Partnering for Resilience (PFR): Learn, Empower, and Connect to Address Toxic Stress will be the 2016/2017 campaign. We hope you will join us in our efforts to help improve the health of our nation's children through initiatives to prevent and mitigate toxic stress whether that is at your home institution, community, state or federal level.
– We will be revising our current strategic plan this year. In the last three years we were able to successfully implement the balanced scorecard model and align the Section's key perspectives with those used for the Academy's scorecard. We intend on doing the same this year.
