On Wednesday, AAP Council on Foster Care, Adoption, and Kinship Care Executive Committee member Lisa Zetley, MD, FAAP, spoke at an event announcing the Children Need Amazing Parents (CHAMPS) campaign. AAP is a lead partner in CHAMPS, a campaign focused on improving quality parenting experiences for children in foster care through policy reforms at the federal level and in 20-25 states over five years. Dr. Zetley is a member of WIAAP and co-leads our foster care efforts.

Dr. Zetley spoke alongside philanthropic leaders and policymakers from the first two states where CHAMPS will focus: Georgia and New York.
She highlighted the impact that quality foster parenting can have on child health and developmental outcomes across the lifespan. The Academy will continue its extensive engagement on the campaign, including working with AAP chapters to focus on state policy change.
