WACPP is a group of pediatricians and child and adolescent psychiatrists who are interested in working to strengthen working relationships between our specialties with the goal of improving the assessment and treatment of psychiatric disorders for children and adolescents within the State of Wisconsin.
This group last year developed the monthly Mental Health teleconferences and we will soon begin planning projects for the next year. Any interested pediatricians should contact jogrady@mcw.edu, voicemail 414-955-8935, or pager 414-557-2527.
Recently recognized by the American Academy of Pediatrics' Chapter Excellence Award, the WACPP webinars' goals are to support physicians who increasingly bear the burden of front line evaluation and mental health issues in their practices through a quality-based collaborative model, and to improve outcomes for children and adolescents in the state whose diagnoses are on the rise.
WACPP has expanded its horizons and strengthened connections with plans for additional projects and initiatives based on the same needs for expanded mental health resources and access.
The unique approach to bridging gaps in access/education to primary care for mental health has generated interest and blueprinting for other AAP chapters and interested third parties trying to achieve similar results.
