The Wisconsin Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (WIAAP) strives to assure optimal health and well-being for all of Wisconsin’s children and their families and provide support and education to our members, enabling them to continue to be the most effective providers of healthcare to children. Founded in 1953, there are over 900 members in the state of Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics is an organized group of over 900 pediatricians, family practitioners, residents, medical students and other health care professionals working to achieve the American Academy of Pediatrics goals in their own communities. There are 59 chapters in the United States. Chapter membership includes numerous opportunities for education, leadership, and involvement in state and local advocacy.

WIAAP continually fights for the best health policy for children, families, and providers. Everyone in the pediatric field benefits from the time, funding and efforts WIAAP puts toward legislative and public health efforts. WIAAP convenes a Pediatric Policy Council to strengthen the voice of children in the state.

Leadership

The Wisconsin Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics is governed by a board of directors elected by WIAAP members. WIAAP board members are motivated and outstanding members of the professional pediatric community and help form the chapter’s strategic plan, weigh in on health policy and legislation affecting the well-being of children, provide expertise on a variety of topics, and state networking opportunities for colleagues across the state.
